Back at CES we gave you a preview of the first Made-for-iPhone Bluetooth LE hearing aid when GN’s Resound Linx started rolling out to select markets ahead of an official launch. Today the company announced that it’s now rolling out in global markets alongside the new ReSound Smart companion app. The hearing aid is the first under Apple’s MFi program using new Apple-developed Bluetooth LE hearing aid technology that introduces new possibilities for the product category.
ReSound LiNX, which the company notes is its “smallest wireless Receiver-in-the-Ear hearing aid” yet, works with the ReSound Smart App to allow users control over a number of settings and features via their iOS device:
ReSound LiNX is a Made for iPhone hearing aid that offers direct streaming of sound from iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, allowing wearers to utilize their hearing aids to talk on the phone and listen to music in high-quality stereo sound without the need for an additional remote control, accessory or pendant.
The accompanying ReSound Smart App allows users to set preferred volume levels as well as treble/bass settings, and use geo-tagging to assign and adjust to the acoustics of frequently visited places like home, work, favorite restaurants and more. ReSound Smart™ also features a ‘Find My Hearing Aid’ function to help users pinpoint their hearing aids if misplaced.
The company is also selling the ReSound LiNX as Beltone First through its sister brand and says the product will be available through its global network of suppliers. There’s more on both products on resoundlinx.com and beltone.com.
We reported last year that Apple had developed new hearing aid technology and expected partners in its MFi program to introduce hearing aid and cochlear implant products using the technology soon.
