Realm, a company which provides mobile databases to around 100,000 app developers, told Business Insider that its stats show that developers are losing interest in the Apple Watch.

“On a weekly basis we’re seeing very few Watch apps, compared to iOS apps,” says VP Tim Anglade. “For every 1,000 new iOS apps being built, there are 10 tvOS apps and maybe 1 Watch app” …

Anglade says that there’s a bit of a ‘gold rush’ into tvOS apps as it’s a new platform, similar to that seen for the Watch when it first came out. He believes that interest in the wearable won’t be rekindled until it can run apps independently of the iPhone.

Recent stats showed that the Apple Watch is the bestseller in the smartwatch category, but still trails more basic fitness-oriented wearables due to the significant price difference.
