According to a report from BGR, which cited a “trusted source,” Apple is preparing to demo a refreshed version of its Apple TV OS at WWDC next week. The report also claimed it is the same OS that runs on the much-rumored Apple HDTV that many reports indicate the company is working on. BGR also said Apple is testing a new “control out” API. The report explained:
It seems odd that Apple would introduce an entirely new Apple TV operating system at this WWDC. Just in March, Apple introduced an entirely new Apple TV user-interface that takes design features from the version of iOS that runs on iPads, iPhones, and iPod touches. Apple’s move to introduce another Apple TV OS (just a couple months after its last revamp) sounds aggressive. However, with rumors of Apple meeting the TV space very soon, it is possible.
Besides the unconfirmed possibility of a new Apple TV UI, we do expect to see the thinner, redesigned MacBook Pro that we recently revealed, enhancements to photo and video sharing features in iCloud, new features of iOS 6, and Mountain Lion. Apple’s keynote is the opening day of WWDC on June 11 at 10 a.m. PST.
