After teasing the phones on social media for a few weeks, Redmi has finally launched the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro today in a launch event in China. These are the first flagship series phones released by Redmi, as it became an independent brand back in January this year. Price of the Redmi 7A was also revealed today as the phone was announced a few days back. The brand also released a laptop today, which we will cover in another article.

Redmi K20

Specifications:

Redmi K20 is powered by the recently launched Snapdragon 730 mobile platform built on 8nm process, along with Adreno 618 GPU. On the front, it features a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2340 X 1080 pixels. The display has a screen to body ratio of 91.9 per cent and offers 19.9:5 aspect ratio. The phone comes with a 7th generation in display fingerprint sensor and has Gorilla Glass 6 on both back and front sides. It runs on MIUI 10 on top of Android 9 Pie with some additional features like Game Turbo 2.0 mode, DC dimming, etc.

In terms of camera specifications, the phone has a triple camera setup on the back. The primary sensor is of 48 MP with f/1.7 aperture, the secondary sensor is of 13 MP with f/2.4 aperture, and the third sensor is an 8 MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. It also supports PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus), 2X Optical Zoom, 960 fps slow motion recording, and 2k video recording with 60 frames per second. A 20 MP selfie camera pops up from the top like most of the flagships released recently. The phone gets backed by a 4,000 mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging. Other features include a 3.5mm audio jack, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, etc.

Pricing and availability:

The phone comes in 2 memory variants, 6+64 GB and 6+128 GB. The 6+64 GB variant is priced at ¥1,999 and the 6+128 GB variant is priced at ¥2,099. The sales of Redmi K20 will begin on June 6 in China.

Redmi K20 Pro

The Redmi K20 Pro comes with almost the same specifications as of the K20. It comes with a better Snapdragon 855 mobile platform built on a 7nm process and is coupled with the Adreno 640 GPU. This beast Soc and optimisations of the MIUI 10 push the Antutu score of the phone to 388,803 points. The 4,000 mAh battery on the K20 Pro supports 27W fast charging.

The phone comes in 4 storage variants, 6+64 GB, 6+128 GB, 8+128 GB, and 8+256 GB. The 6+64 GB variant is priced at ¥2,499, 6+128 GB variant is priced at ¥2,599, 8+128 GB variant is priced at ¥2,799 and the 8+256 GB variant is priced at ¥2,999. The sales will begin on June 1 in China.

Both phones are expected to be released in the international markets as well. They might be named Xiaomi 9T / 9T Pro according to some rumours. Also, it is almost confirmed that the phone will not be called Poco F2 in the international markets.

Redmi 7A

Redmi 7A was launched last week but the price was not revealed. The phone is the successor to the Redmi 6A launched last year. To recall, the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 439 mobile platform. It has a 4,000 mAh battery with 10W fast charging. On the back, it has a 13 MP camera, whereas a 5 MP camera is present on the front. The price of the phone has been revealed in today’s event. The 2+16 GB variant is priced at ¥549, and the 2+32 GB variant is priced at ¥599. For its price, the phone seems to be very impressive. It will also be launched in other markets soon.
