Reddit has today launched an official Ask Me Anything iOS app, providing a convenient way to view both real-time and archived AMAs. Reddit’s SVP of mobile Ellen Pao said that move was to address the fact that a third of site visits are made on mobile devices, a number that is growing all the time.

We’ve found in the last year or so a huge uptick in people accessing Reddit from the mobile web, and we want to give those folks a great experience …

AMAs are Reddit’s most popular feature, with 6.2M followers. AMA interviewees have ranged from computer scientists through almost any celebrity you can name through to President Obama.

Reddit previously attempted to launch a mobile app back in 2011, but abandoned it a few months later after complaints about bugs and a poor user experience, leaving the field open to third-party apps like Alien Blue. The free official app allows users to view both current and archived AMAs.

Ask Me Anything is a free download on iTunes.
