Rockstar Games released a new Red Dead Redemption 2 PC trailer earlier today, and the video demonstrated the port’s stunning 4K/60fps graphics while illustrating just how much more visual fidelity and detail is made possible by the game coming to the PC platform. Red Dead Redemption 2 is already renowned for being one of the most visually impressive games of its generation despite being locked onto consoles previously, something that typically restricts a game’s ability to really flex its aesthetic muscles since console platforms feature locked hardware specifications.
The fact that Red Dead Redemption 2 is even coming to PC at all is something of a miracle given how long the rumors persisted of a potential port before it was finally announced - some fans had already given up waiting for it, despite the fact that it was expected. Once Rockstar Games announced the existence of the Rockstar Games Launcher, however, fans quickly adjusted expectations for the port, assuming it would be coming sooner rather than later to help sell the fledgling launcher and get consumers to download it. While the offer of a free copy of GTA: San Andreas likely helped initial numbers, the long-awaited announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC was what really hammered home the Rockstar Games Launcher and its potential.
Now, Rockstar Games has begun really showing off what the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC port can accomplish on the platform. A new trailer released earlier today shows off just how much detail can be rendered on the platform, with the video highlighting some truly minute but impressive additions, like the claw marks of a bear on the base of a tree or the individual spines on a cactus in New Austin. While the visual improvements definitely fall into the category of unnecessary additions, it doesn’t make them any less compelling, and many fans simply can’t wait to explore the gigantic world of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC.
Red Dead Redemption 2 will release for PC on November 5, 2019. Those who have downloaded the Rockstar Games Launcher and purchase the title there will get a bonus as long as they pre-order the game before October 22 - two free classic Rockstar Games PC titles alongside additional pre-purchase incentives, such as bonuses to the Red Dead Redemption 2 Story Mode and a nice start of 50 Gold Bars for Red Dead Online, which is slowly clawing its way back from a rocky start.
It’s likely most players didn’t need the additional incentives to pre-order Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. The game is a natural fit for the platform, and modders will be salivating over what they can do with such a powerful engine and open game world. For now, though, Red Dead Redemption 2 is still a few weeks away, and the new Red Dead Redemption 2 PC trailer is cruelly reminding fans of that while also taunting them with some truly impressive and captivating visuals.
