The Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release date is almost here, and here’s everything you need to know. Released to critical acclaim but garnering a mixed reaction from fans, the latest entry in the GTA developer’s wild west franchise came out on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 last year and will now make the jump to PC. It makes sense considering that Grand Theft Auto V took over a year to come to PC after its initial release, but when it finally did Rockstar packaged a whole new first-person mode alongside it.
Most importantly, Rockstar recently unveiled their own games distribution platform for PC titles, the Rockstar Games Launcher, which includes a free copy of GTA: San Andreas. Although it also offers the company’s older games like Max Payne 3 and L.A. Noire, it’s unlikely Rockstar would go through the trouble of creating an entire digital storefront if they weren’t planning on adding more high-profile titles to it in the near future, which is why an announcement for a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release came shortly thereafter.
Red Dead Redemption 2 releases on PC on November 5, and the game is now available to be pre-loaded using the Rockstar Games Launcher. By pre-ordering Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC, consumers get a whole host of bonus content: Outlaw Survival Kit for Story Mode, War Horse for Story Mode, Le Tresor des Mortes Treasure Map for Story Mode, Cash Bonus for Story Mode, and 50 Gold Bars for Red Dead Online. Furthermore, players can then choose two games from the following list to own: Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Bully: Scholarship Edition, L.A. Noire: The Complete Edition, and Max Payne 3: The Complete Edition.
In addition to polishing Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC, the version is releasing with several new features and updates. For instance, using PCs allows for increased draw distances, higher quality lighting throughout the open world (including day and night lighting), and higher resolution throughout - which means higher quality snow trails, improved reflections, and more. Plus, HDR and high frame rates are supported along with widescreen and multi-screen configurations.
But it’s not all about technical advancements. The Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release also comes with new Bounty Hunter missions, Gang Hideouts, and Treasure Maps to keep players occupied, especially those who’ve already played the game on console when it released last year. If that isn’t enough, new Horses and Trinkets are also available to be found throughout the world. However, in order to run everything, players will need to make sure their PC specifications are up to the task:
