Realme GT 2 Pro was launched in India, equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, and sports a triple rear camera setup, featuring a 50 MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor with OIS and EIS, a 50MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2 MP macro camera.

OPPO sub-brand Realme has already created its own user base in terms of the wide range of Android smartphones, software update support, active community, etc. Well, the company has released Realme GT2 Pro in Q1 2022 with the flagship-grade hardware specs, coupled with Android 12 (Realme UI 3.0). Now, the Realme GT 2 Pro users should be happy that they can easily download and manually install the Android 13 Beta 1 build in an official way.

Currently, the Android 13 Public Beta 1 build is available for the eligible Pixel devices by Google, and Realme becomes one of the OEMs to provide the Android 13 DP1 (Developer Preview 1) build software update to the Realme GT 2 Pro model including the upgrade & rollback to Android 12 stable firmware packages. However, this specific update is only available for the Realme GT 2 Pro European variant. But soon we may see other region variants too.

It’s also worth mentioning that if you’re using the non-European variant of the Realme GT 2 Pro model then do not attempt to install this update because it’s not compatible with your variant. As a result, enrolling for the European build and installing the update may occur unwanted chaos with your handset for sure. Whereas the Developer Preview build can be buggy and unstable so the advanced users or developers only can opt-in for this beta program.

What’s New in Android 13

According to Google’s schedule, Android 13 will be released in Q3 2022. As we know, Google has already rolled their 2 developer previews and they have started rolling the beta build to the developer to test it.

In terms of the Android 13, it seems that the Android 12’s successor has plenty of additional features and improvements to its predecessor. We’ve already seen and used the major UI and design element changes in Android 12 last year which is known as ‘Material You’. This materialistic theming design enhanced the Android user experience in every aspect from the minimal subtle look, rounded corners, improved pop-ups, etc.

Realme GT 2 Pro Android 13 Beta 1: Download and Install

In addition to the last paragraph, we should also mention that the beta builds are only meant to be used for the developers to adapt their applications to the new Android version. Meanwhile, some apps may crash a lot, some system functions won’t work properly, system performance may feel slow & jittery, etc. Luckily, Realme has announced the Android 13 Beta 1 DP update for Realme GT 2 Pro (European) on the official Realme Community Forum.

So, all the interested GT2 Pro (European) users can now download and install the Android 13 Beta 1 Developer Preview update via the local upgrade method. Whereas if the software seems unstable or somehow the users don’t find it good enough then they can easily roll back to the Android 12 stable version via the local rollback method. Now, before getting into the update process, let’s take a quick look at the known issues below.

Known Issues:

  • All user data will be erased during the upgrade.
  • Some system functions are not available.
  • Part of the interface display may look less than desirable.
  • Some applications may not work properly or be fully functional.
  • The system may have some stability issues.

Requirements:

  • You should take a full data backup of your device before proceeding because it will wipe out all data completely from the internal storage.
  • Keep your handset charged at least up to 60% or more to avoid an occasional shutdown.
  • Turn on the Developer Options on your Realme GT2 Pro. You can find the steps in the upgrade method.
  • Make sure to download the appropriate firmware file from the link below on your handset.
  • Android 13 Beta 1 Update Package (EU/RMX3301_11_C.01)
  • Android 13 Update Package (RMX3301_11.C.08)

If you want to downgrade to Android 12 again from Android 13 Beta 1 then you should download the following package:

  • Android 13 Beta 1 to Android 12 Rollback Package (EU/RMX3301_ROLL_BACK)

1) Local Upgrade Process from Android 12 to Android 13 Beta 1

Please Note: It’s recommended to update your Realme GT2 Pro device to the Android 12 (RMX3301_A.14) version which is required to be able to enter into the Android 13 Developer Preview (RMX3301_11_C.01) version. It’s important.

  • First of all, ensure that you’ve taken the data backup of the device. To do so: Go to Settings > Additional Settings > Back Up and Reset > Select Backup & Restore > Select the data to back up.
  • Transfer the downloaded upgrade firmware to the phone storage. [Keep it outside any folder]
  • Now, turn on the Developer options menu. Just go to Settings > About Phone > Version > Tap on Build Number seven times to enable Developer Options.
  • Then go back to the Settings menu > Tap on Software Update > Tap on Settings (cogwheel icon) in the upper right corner > Tap on Manually select the installation package > Make sure to select the downloaded firmware package that you’ve transferred > Tap on Install.
  • Wait for the process to be completed as it may take some time > Once the verification process is completed, the device system will be restarted and updated to Android 13 Beta 1 Developer Preview.
  • After booting for the first time on the latest Android version, you’ll need to complete the initial setup process for once.
  • Enjoy!

2) Local Rollback Process from Android 13 Beta 1 to Android 12

  • The first thing you should do is not to switch off your phone during the firmware rollback process. So, keep at least a 30% charge or more.
  • If in case, you want to save the data backup then go to Settings > Additional Settings > Back Up and Reset > Select Backup & Restore > Select the data to back up.
  • Transfer the downloaded rollback firmware package to the phone storage. [Keep it outside any folder]
  • Now, turn on the Developer options menu. Just go to Settings > About Phone > Version > Tap on Build Number seven times to enable Developer Options.
  • Then go back to the Settings menu > Tap on Software Update > Tap on Settings (cogwheel icon) in the upper right corner > Tap on Manually select the rollback firmware package > Make sure to select the downloaded rollback firmware package that you’ve transferred > Tap on Install.
  • Wait for the process to be completed as it may take some time > Once the verification process is completed, the device system will be restarted and downgraded to Android 12 stable from Android 13 Beta 1 Developer Preview.
  • Make sure to go through the initial setup process and you’re good to go.
