The Real Housewives of Orange County’s main cast member Tamra Judge said she would likely leave the show if she were to be demoted from main cast member to a friend. The reality star said if that time ever came, she would bow out gracefully.
Judge joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Orange County at the start of season 3 and has been a main member for the past 12 seasons. Judge was known to be the cast member who actively - and loudly - spoke her mind, often getting herself into trouble. Now, she has more to say on the matter of staying on the show… or potentially leaving.
Recently, Judge admitted to Us Weekly that if she were to be demoted to friend status on the reality show that she would leave. The 52-year-old explained that there probably would come a time where her life was just not that interesting. At that point, she would rather leave on a high note than be pushed back into a friend role, where she wouldn’t get as much screen time. Judge recently attacked the Real Housewives of New York City’s Bethenny Frankel for leaving the show.
The fellow Bravolebrity disagreed with Frankel’s reasoning for wanting to leave the reality show behind. Judge believed that Frankel used the excuse of spending time with her daughter as an easy way out, explaining that there filming commitment doesn’t take up that much time that you would never see your child. Frankel also commented that she was in production with Mark Burnett for a spinoff in which she would also star. The show would highlight the shift in women’s roles and show the new power that women now have. Fans will remember that Frankel left Bravo back in 2010 before returning to the show five years later. Not only was Judge surprised by Frankel’s departure, but so were the castmates of The Real Housewives of New York City, as she was the highest salaried housewife in franchise history.
Most believe it was time for Frankel to leave the franchise and focus on her brand. Other housewives have made the transition to friend, like Vicki Gunvalson, who still appears on current episodes of The Real Housewives of Orange County, still carrying the same amount of drama. After five seasons, Luann de Lesseps was downgraded to a friend, only to be brought back as a main cast member on season 7.
