The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Teresa Giudice feels “bittersweet” about Joes’ deportation. However, in an interview with Andy Cohen, she had said that if her husband were to get deported she would divorce him.
In 2013, both Joe and Teresa were indicted for filing a false bankruptcy report, trying to hide their wealth. Joe had other charges brought against him as well, also being indicted for failing to file tax returns between 2004 and 2008. Teresa was sentenced to 15 months behind bars and was released from federal prison after only having served 11 months. Upon the housewives’ release, Joe was to report directly to the federal prison to start his time. After months of waiting for the Bravo personality then filed a petition in September to be returned to Italy and the request was approved earlier this month.
According to E! Immigration and Customs Enforcement released the Bravo personality from a detainment center in Pennsylvania on Friday, October 11th so Giudice could fly back to his home country of Italy. In a statement read by the family’s lawyer, James J. Leonard Jr said that Teresa and her children are devastated that he was not allowed to come back to their New Jersey home. Teresa even took to her social media posting a picture on her Instagram of the Statue of Liberty crying - see the post below:
While in Italy, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star will continue to fight his deportation order with an appeal. News outlets confirmed that the father of four was a free man once again after spending months in a detention center waiting to hear about his appeal. The family lawyer announced in the statement that the family was still going to fight the court’s decision as Giudice would like to return to the United States. The 47-year-old was not afforded any comforts and the United States booked him an economy seat for his journey home. Giudice had originally asked to be released to his home in New Jersey where he resided with his wife Teressa and daughters, Gia, Gabriella, Milania, and Audriana but was told no by the judge.
Even though Joe served his three-year sentence for fraud he was still not allowed back to walk free in the US because he never applied for his visa which would have allowed him citizenship and the ability to stay in the country. Teresa has had to stay strong and continue with her family’s daily routine despite the recent bad news. In a preview clip of the new season, it shows Teresa and her possible new boy toy sneaking off to Mykonos for a romantic vacation, essentially leaving Joe behind in her dust. Some people may move on quicker than others when it comes to having been scorned.
