Star of The Real Housewives of Dallas’ LeeAnn Locken revealed that she had considered suicide before her wedding to Tich Emberlin. Locken has always been upfront with her fans and did not let them down during part one of the reunion special.
Fans have watched as Locken first entered reality TV on Big Rich Texas where she was a sidekick to the president of the Fashionistas which was a social circle within Dallas. Now, she has moved on up to the role of the leading lady with The Real Housewives of Dallas, but her blunt persona is wearing her co-stars and fans thin. The newly married Locken has always been very open about her past which consisted of growing up working at a carnival and suffering from sexual molestation at a young age.
On last night’s reunion, special Locken opened up about how she thought of suicide only three months before she walked down the aisle. During part one of The Real Housewives of Dallas, the newlywed told Andy Cohen and her co-stars that she had dark thoughts before marrying Rich Emberlin. During a Q&A session, a fan pointed out that last season Locken and Stephanie Hollman bonded over the issue of suicide when each shared their story but the fan wondered if Locken felt bad about how she offhandedly spoke about it right in front of her friend.
Locken was taken aback at the question and broke down saying that she was actually hoping that Hollman would recognize that she was asking for help. Hollman, who is the voice of reason within the group told her co-star that she had no idea it was not a joke as during their dinner in Mexico the comment came out “jarring.” Hollman went on to say that the sentiment felt more as if Locken was throwing the word out there for attention. D’Andra Simmons piped up as she told the cameras that her own father committed suicide and she was the one to find him with a bullet in his head. She teared up as she told the ladies that she did not want to talk about suicide in a “flippant manner.” The reality star went on to say that if someone wanted to talk about the subject in a serious matter, then she would receive it but in no way should the subject be joked about.
Viewers are not shocked by Locken’s stories as she often refers to her upbringing during filming. On this season of The Real Housewives of Dallas Locken invited her estranged mother to her wedding only to treat her poorly and mock her during her wedding vows. Locken also hit a snag when she spat out racist terms toward co-star Kary Brittingham which received a lot of backlashes.
