The former star of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Lauri Peterson is frustrated with the prison system as her son Josh Waring has gotten into some serious trouble after being the victim of a violent inmate attack. She shared the good news that Josh was finally granted the request for being transferred to a new jail.
Peterson was one of the five original cast members on the premiere season of the popular show. Peterson joined the housewives as a divorced mother of three who was enjoying her rich lifestyle. During her time on the show, she worked for Vicki Gunvalson and found love and sailed off into the sunset with her third husband. However, money can’t buy you peace of mind as she noticed when her son had slipped back into his old way of drug use just 45 days after leaving rehab. He had been charged for possession and possible intent to sell. Her son’s jail time is tearing up the housewife as she understands that she can’t fix her son’s bad choices.
Recently he put himself in the worst trouble yet as according to TMZ he is now awaiting trial for attempted murder for allegedly shooting a man outside of a rehab center in 2006 - in which he pled not guilty. While awaiting his trial, Josh was a victim of quite a few vicious and seemingly random inmate and guard attacks at the Orange County Jail. There was video footage of Josh being ambushed by an inmate wielding razor blades hidden by a towel. After Josh was assaulted by three other inmates and at least one guard and suffering large cuts on his face and chest, his lawyer, Joel Garson, requested that his client be transferred to a new holding facility where he believed he will be much safer. On Friday, November 20th, a judge approved the inmate’s request to be moved after seeing footage of the scary inmate attacks. He was moved to the Santa Ana City Jail. The transfer that Josh will no longer be in the custody of the Orange County Sheriff, its correction officers and their deputies who his reality TV mother believed were trying to kill him.
After being moved, Josh will still receive all the same privileges that he had at the Orange County jail, which included library access, health care, and unlimited calls. Peterson told the news outlet that the inmate that attacker her son was supposed to be locked in his cell but obviously was let out. Josh’s lawyer believes that letting that inmate loose to attack Josh was retaliation for when Josh previously filed a federal lawsuit against Orange County and it’s Sheriff’s Department for violating his civil rights and claimed that they illegally recorded his confidential attorney-client calls. Though the guards at the jail have denied any wrongdoing in the October attack and stated that Josh knew the guards had nothing to do with any of the incidents.
Even though Peterson has gotten her wish for her son to be moved to a safer facility, she will still have to wait as he does for his trial to begin. It seems that no matter how much money Peterson has, she can’t buy her way out of her son’s bad choices.
