The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Gina Kirschenheiter almost got back with her ex before the domestic violence charges.

Many of the housewives go through marital issues while filming for the hit Bravo show, and the Long Island native is no exception to this rule. She and her ex initially met before they graduated from college and were together for 11 years. In July of 2018, the reality star filed for divorce from her husband after seven years of marriage due to him having an affair and dating another woman. Fans watched Gina on season 13 try and hide how messy her divorce had become, always saying that they were each other’s best friend. She finally moved out at the end of last season, taking her three children with her.

In Tuesday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Gina revealed that she almost got back together with her ex-husband. The mother of three told her friend Emily Simpson that Matt had reached out to her and told her he wanted to attend couples therapy. The reality star then spoke with Tamra Judge and voiced her concerns about whether she should get back together with her cheating ex. The 35- year-old told her friend that she did not want to regret not giving it another go because of the parents sharing custody of the three children together - Sienna, 5, and sons Nicholas, 7, and Luca, 4. The real housewife felt that she was not in charge of making the decision about whether her family would stay together or not.

Only recently, Matt had called the reality star in the middle of the night numerous times, but she did not answer because she admitted that the two had been fighting. She later blocked his number. He then decided to go to her new house as he could not reach her by phone, Gina also had not locked the door for the night and proceed to enter her bedroom unannounced. The star told Simpson and Judge that Matt surprised her, and what really scared her was that she had no idea he was even in her house. Gina then said that while at first the intrusion seemed unwarranted, it also felt nice that Matt seemed to care about her again.

While the sudden act of romance from Matt may have potentially fooled Gina, in the end she felt that she did not want to fall for a “romance novel situation.” Fans do not want to see the Bravo personality follow her heart, only to be hurt once again. According to Gina, her ex-husband is looking for a job that would bring him back to Orange County, but it may be a little too late as Gina has moved onto a new boyfriend with whom she seems very happy.
