A parody of Cops in the style of a mockumentary, Reno 911! aired from 2003 to 2009 on Comedy Central. The series followed the exceptionally incompetent workers in the fictional Reno Sheriff’s Department. The cast included Thomas Lennon, Robert Ben Garant, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Cedric Yarbrough, Niecy Nash, and Mary Birdsong....

Apple has been fighting the Indian government over approving an iOS app to block spam calls and texts in the region for some time now. A new report from Reuters suggests that Apple has changed its tune slightly, agreeing to provide assistance to help make such an app, but with ‘limited capabilities’. Apple does not want to give a third-party app access to iPhone call logs on privacy grounds, but it’s not clear what compromise has been reached....

The Chinese authorities have told Foxconn that it cannot open its iPhone production factories on February 10, as reported by Nikkei. Reuters previously said that any additional delays would have a significant impact on Apple’s iPhone sales. The company depends on Foxconn factories to assemble iPhones in the quantities it requires; if the company can’t make them, Apple can’t sell them. Local governments are reportedly concerned about the proximity of employees in factories like Foxconn, expecting a high risk of contagion....

While Twitter has already placed a focus on live streaming with Periscope, it is apparently looking to do even more. According to a report from The Information, Twitter plans to expand its live video push by opening its live streaming API to additional partners… The report explains that in opening its live streaming API, Twitter will allow media companies to tap directly into its software as opposed to going through Periscope....

Last month, we covered a macOS Keychain exploit that seemingly could expose user credentials and passwords. Remedy Entertainment surprised fans of their action game Control at the Game Awards this year by releasing their first DLC, Expeditions, available for immediate download. A new report from The Information this morning highlights that Apple is hosting a number of apps on the App Store made by a Chinese paramilitary group that’s been blacklisted by the US government. Apple says that it’s complying with US law but the news comes as the company is facing more pressure to cut any possible ties to abuse and genocide against the Uyghur Muslim people in the Xinjiang region....

According to a contributor report from The Street, Apple is now looking to take that jump. It wants to produce original TV shows as exclusive content for its iTunes library offerings, according to the report, having spoken to ‘members of the Hollywood creative community’ late in 2015. These new TV shows could form part of a future Apple TV cable subscription service. Don’t get too excited just yet about the idea of original content from Apple....

Dubbed WhisperGate, the malware is a wiper that was used in cyberattacks against website domains owned by the country’s government. The spate of attacks led to the defacement of at least 70 websites and a further 10 subject to “unauthorized interference,” according to the Security Service of Ukraine, State Special Service and Cyber Police. The wave of attacks was made public on January 14. Websites impacted included the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Education and Science, and various state services....
