Jawbone, the company behind once popular fitness trackers, is liquidating its assets and shutting down, according to reports from Business Insider and The Information. The death of Jawbone is the latest in the wearable market thanks in large part to increased competition from Apple. The company reportedly stopped producing its fitness trackers last year and stopped selling them in September of 2016. Jawbone sold remaining inventory to “a third-party reseller at a reduced price” to get a much-needed cash influx....

A new report from CNBC today shares that J.P. Morgan has cut its financial estimates for iPhone suppliers as demand for Apple’s smartphone is said to be declining. Over the weekend, Bloomberg posted an exclusive report of Pegatron’s iPhone plant in China. Although Foxconn is Apple’s primary assembler, Apple has moved more of its iPhone assembly contracts to Pegatron in recent years to diversify its supply chain. The Bloomberg report describes how the factory is managing its workforce, tracking hours via automated systems, and tackling labor issues like overtime. According to a new report Chinese news organization Nikkei, Apple is currently planning to introduce the first iPhone with an OLED display in 2017. In the past, it has been rumored that Apple was aiming to use OLED technology by 2018 or 2019, but today’s report claims that Apple is ahead of schedule and plans to ship an OLED iPhone next year. Economic Daily News is reporting that Apple suppliers have begun hiring en-masse this month as they prepare for assembly of Apple’s upcoming flagship iPhone, the iPhone 7. The new iPhones (coming in 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch sizes) are expected to debut in the fall, following tradition.
