According to a new report out of market research firm StellaService, Apple’s customer service took a turn for the worse during the second quarter of 2015. The firm, who develops its data by tracking and evaluating online retailers on a daily basis, claims that Apple is now ranked 25th in terms of customer service among the companies it profiled. Retailer L.L.Bean ranked first, while Apple retail head Angela Ahrendts’ former company Burberry ranked 7th....

There’s finally an end in sight for the ongoing saga that is the sale of Toshiba’s memory chip unit. According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple has reached “final terms” to be part of Bain Capital’s $18 billion bid for the chip business… The report says that Apple is part of a consortium of partners Bain has put together for the offer, including Dell and SK Hynix. With Apple now on board, Bloomberg reports that a deal could be announced as soon as Thursday, though it’s not out of the question that we could see another delay....

However, 2021 ransomware attacks were up 93% for the year compared with 2020. NCC says that the decrease is likely due to seasonal factors and has been seen in prior years. January victims numbered 121 businesses compared with 191 in December. North America and Europe accounted for 86% of ransomware attacks sharing almost equal numbers of victims. The industrial sector is the most targeted with one in four attacks, followed by the consumer cyclical sector with 22%....

A report today offers new details on the popularity of Apple News+ and how it is being received by publishers. DIgiday reports that while Apple News+ isn’t “wowing” most publishers, some have seen encouraging results. Jeremy Horwitz of iLounge, who just recently claimed to have details on the upcoming iPad 5 and iPhone lineup, today shared additional details on Apple’s rumored low-cost iPhone. As developers continue to roll out trackpad support to their iPad applications, popular RSS app Reeder is the latest to add the capability. Microsoft, on the other hand, is apparently planning to take a slower approach to implementing the functionality. According to a recent report from Adweek, Apple is in the process of streamlining its global marketing efforts. The report explains that Apple has restructured its relationship with ad agency TBWA\Media Arts Lab to put a stronger emphasis on digital and regional campaigns rather than “big brand campaigns” for the global market.
