A new report published today by non-profit organization Green America and industry watchdog China Labor Watch accuses Apple of various violations of Chinese labor laws at one of its suppliers in the country (via NYTimes). The investigation focused on Apple supplier Catcher Technology in Suqian, China and claims to have found violations similar to those found during an audit of the same supplier last year: The plant manufactures metal casings for a number of consumer electronics companies including Apple, Inc....

UPDATE 04/17/2019: CCP Games has released an interim statement, admitting that the investigation is still on-going and that in the interest of transparency, the company would release a full report next week. CCP Games also stated that the company would “issue a full and frank apology for any mistakes for which we are responsible, as well as provide appropriate reparations to those affected by any erroneous actions we’ve taken.” The full statement is available here, but it certainly sounds as though the accusations may have been at least partially unfounded....

Apple is reportedly set to open an online store in India this year. According to a new report from TechCrunch, Apple’s currently goal is to launch online hardware sales sometime during the third quarter of this year. The Indian government has eased rules that previously required companies to source 30% of production locally. This is what now enables Apple to operate online and brick-and-mortar retail stores in the country. In a statement last August, Apple said that it was “eager to serve” customers in India online and in-store, but that it would “take us some time to get our plans under way....

Update: Verizon’s new plans and features are now official. Verizon is planning an announcement tomorrow and CNET reports that it’s part of a big overhaul of its plans that will see increased data caps come alongside price hikes and other new features. Customers will also reportedly soon get access to unlimited usage through a new feature dubbed ‘Safety Mode’, rollover data options, and more. According to the report, Verizon’s plans will increase by $5 making the entry-level plan come in at $35, but it will also now come with an increased 2GB of data up from 1GB previously....
