Earlier this week, a report from Nikkei said that Apple was considering delaying the iPhone 12 launch “by months.” Now, Reuters reports that while Apple’s supply chain is up and running in China, suppliers are worried about demand and a potential iPhone 12 delay. The Reuters report cites a “senior official at one of Apple’s major contract assemblers” who says Apple’s orders for fiscal Q2 are likely to be down around 18% year-over-year....

A Hong-Kong based subsidiary, FIT Hon Teng, of Taiwan-based iPhone supplier Foxconn is looking to acquire Belkin, a well-known iPhone accessory maker. Financial Times reports that the Foxconn subsidiary will be purchasing Belkin International for $866M. The announcement was made on Tuesday, and FIT will acquire Belkin by way of a merger. The acquisition of Belkin includes Linksys, Phyn and Wemo. Belkin has been well known in the Apple space, making various accessories for iPhone, iPad, and Macs, including cases, screen protectors, and even dongles for both the USB-C, and Lightning ecosystem of devices....

Apple’s redesigned iMac was crafted, at least in part, by the company’s long-time design executive Jony Ive. Wired reports that even though Ive officially departed Apple in 2019, he was still involved in designing the first new iMac chassis in a decade. Unfortunately, details here are pretty vague. Ahead of next week’s iPad Air launch, dozens of countries across the world, regional carriers within the United States have begun announcing their plans for carrying the LTE-capable version of the tablet. A new clinical observation study published today by Nature Biotechnology (via The Verge) includes findings from an asthma test based on Apple’s ResearchKit framework. The asthma app relies on the iPhone app to voluntarily collect information, and the published study shows that such an approach can produce results. A new report from research firm Consumer Intelligence Research Partners today details Apple’s iPhone 7 and 7 Plus launch, showing some numbers that support the company’s continued claims of increasing Android switchers and more. Just over a week ago, the FBI revealed that it had successfully unlocked the iPhone 5c used by one of the San Bernardino gunmen without the help of Apple.
